I been back to the doctors today to ask for advice about my acid reflux. I was taking omeprazole because my GPs thought the prednisolone was the cause of it. However when I stopped two weeks ago it came back. I have indigestion,a sore throat and an achy chest when it gets bad. (I have been tested for bug you can get in your stomach)
So the doctor has decided to put me back on ompreloze 20mg twice a day and glavison after every meal and one dose at bed time. This was the regime the consultant had me on. The doctor said it could mean I am on this medication permantely. (I dont eat any of the foods that can make it worse).
I am looking forward to feeling better again.

Be careful with taking omeprozole long term as possible side effects can cause memory loss. I have found that following a largely acid free diet has helped a lot plus Maalux liquid medication. Dairy is out and I use almond milk. Lots of food are acid including tomatoes. Good information on Google. Best of luck. Liz
My diet is acidic free already as I cant eat anything with acid in. I have a condition with painful bladder symdrome which means my bladder lining is conpromised. So if I eat a tomato for example then I will be in alot of pain. I cant eat yogurts or mayonnaise either. I can eat coconut yogurt. So I only eat milk on cereal and milk in tea. (No caffeine either). I dont eat dessert very often like custard or ice cream.
At the moment I just want to feel better and then I will discuss with my doctor want it will mean if I have to be on it on the long term.
Have you had an endoscopy to see if anything else is going on? If not then you must be referred to the hospital to see a specialist so arrangements can be made to have one. I have been on lanzaprazole for two years and insisted I had an endoscopy and I have now been diagnosed with Barretts Esophagus. Please get it checked out xx
No I havent been referred to hospital about this. To put all this in context I not only have acid reflux but post nasal drip. I am due to see my respiratory consultant end of June. I hope and pray that things will get sorted.
