Hi,

It must worry you both at this time of year. It's horrible when you can't get away from such a trigger. Maybe the doctor can suggest medication which may help him during this time.

Sounds like your son suffers very badly with allergies when the wheat cutting season is around. I have allergies like this too. I am not a medically qualified to give advice, but I can, from my experience, suggest some things. First of all can I suggest you get some piriton tablets (also known as chlorphenamine or chlorpheniramine maleate). This is an antihistamine and may help ease the reaction, or at least it should not be as bad. Note, it can make you feel tired. There are many different antihistamines out there, another good one is Cetirizine. The other thing to start using before the season starts, may be a steroid nasal spray, such as Beconase. This will need to be taken regularly, as it should prevent him from reacting in the first place. He should see a specialist in Asthma and Allergies, and have allergy tests to confirm what he is allergic to.. I don't know what country you live in, so it is a bit difficult to know what to say. Hope the above helps. When he comes home from being near any Wheat, he needs to wash any skin not covered up, and change his clothes. It could be either the Wheat, the wheat dust, the moulds and fungi which may grow together with the Wheat (if there are any).
