So I have panic attacks and GERD (Acid Reflux), and I have been told I have Post Nasal Drip. I cough at times and even cough up stuff. I also have tightness in chest and it feels hard to breath even when I am calm. So how can you tell if it's Asthma or one of the other things I mentioned?

I doing the night owl on reducing dose of prednisone. So wide awake to try to answer your question.

I been treated for acid reflux and post nasal drip. Having a sore chest and a sore throat and cough down to these things.

My sore chest isn't my asthma I been told by consultant but acid reflux.Present treatment is omprerloze and glavison for acid reflux. Ompreloze 2 times a day and glavison 4 times a day. 10ml after meals and bedtime.

Post nasal drip been treated with steroid nasal drops prescribed by the consultant. Plus drops from GP fora nasal polyp.

I have a constant drip down the back of my throat. I am not coughing up any thing but the nasal drips means I can't sleep lying down.

I don't suffer from panic attacks like you feel very calm even if asthma is playing up or acid reflux,

Remember we aren't doctors on this site, Recommended you see your GP to get a proper accessment.

You can't. Only a GP or specialist can diagnose asthma. Your major issue is anxiety and unless you get that under control everything is going to seem worse than it is. You must make this your priority and get all the help you can.

Yes it can be hard to tell but it does help to know what is going on so that you find the best way of treating and managing your symptoms. I've had GERD for many years then developed hayfever and over ten years ago asthma. It went undiagnosed for some time until I went to the GP with tight chest and he did a peak flow test which was very low and listened to my chest (he could hear a wheeze). Then discussed symptoms and treatment and he diagnosed asthma. I was prescribed treatment which helped and kept my symptoms under control. Post nasal drip and anxiety can all excarebate asthma but don't cause it per se.

Keep a diary of when your symptoms occur and what happens and if anything helps or makes it worse. Check out the Asthma UK website for information and discuss it with your doctor.

All the best.
