A daily symptom of my combined Asthma, Sinus Disease and Nasal Polyps is constant burning sensation on the back of my tongue / mouth, plus usually also in my ears.
I known about the Inhaler / Inhaled Steroid Theory but I don’t think that has anything to do with it as this is constant and can be quite apparent even 10 / 12 Hours after Inhaler Use.
I’’m currently on Oral Pred due to an exacerbation so have come off Inhalers entirely to give that theory the best test I can think of.
If you have any theories or similar experiences please share. Thanks in advance.

Hmm, I have no theory, but kind of recognise that feeling of burning in the mouth, or, rather sore tongue etc. I have had that occasionally for many years, long before I was on any inhalers at all. Often my irritations are high in the throat, even to the point of getting uvulitis occasionally, again since before inhalers.
It has been pointed out to me more than once that our respiratory organ starts at the bottom of the lungs and ends at the tip of the nose, and includes sinuses etc. So it seems then to follow that if you have inflammation in your airways that inflammation can extend upwards, and include the mouth etc.
I have never mentioned my uvulitis to anyone, as it normally disappears over the day, having started over night, quite likely from sleeping with an open mouth when my nose is stuffy. But I will mention it. It all hangs together, doesn’t it! But I would mentioned it to a professional, just to rule out other things.
Thanks for that well considered point. It’s sort of what I’ve concluded, i.e. part of the general inflammatory cascade. Doesn’t seem to effect me nearly as much after bedtime, which is why I’ve made a 2nd Post today about Montelukast. Am wondering if increasing Montelukast beyond 10mg at night to twice a day, may have some impact on that symptom. This is not one of those symptoms I think I’m going to crack easily, if at all, but if it’s part of a reaction that leads into my poor Asthma Control, it could be worth it. I’m also thinking about allergic factors, and am toying with the unthinkable, giving up black tea for a week, as Tea is apparently a significant allergen for those with Asthma. (The thought of starting each day on coffee instead, is not a tempting one). Very little online about burning tongue that takes me anywhere. No Stomach issues as far as I’m aware, so have not yet bothered looking into that side of things. Thanks Again.
I sometimes get it on the back of my throat and my ears. I've assumed that it's post nasal drip or the like.
You don't have thrush or anything like that? Or a pollen food allergy?
Please be careful coming off inhalers entirely (unless your doctor has sanctioned it?) because the steroid affect builds up and you could be in trouble when your course ends and you don't also have inhaled steroids in your system.
