Hi I hope everyone is feeling well today, I have been prescribed a new inhaler called Relvar Ellipta . Has anyone tried this or is on it and can tell me if this has any side effects. I’m a bit scared to try it . I’m on Symbicort 200 at the moment. Thanks x

I’m on relvar ellipta (184/22) now (since Dec ‘17). I’m finding that it works really well for me although I initially had to remember it was 1x1 a day rather than 2x2 daily which I had done for 12ish years.

No real side effects on my end, although if you’re unused to dry powder inhalers remember to drink/gargle/ do teeth after as you’re more likely to get thrush/sore throats etc if you don’t... I was on fostair Nexthaler and personally got more side effects from that than I do now...

Try it, and if you don’t get on with it ask to try a different one - everyone reacts differently!

Hope that helps!!!

From my point of view it’s definitely one of the better ones (been through most of the brand now 😅). My specialist hospital suggested this one and so far it’s been great!

I hope it works as well for you as it does for me, but if not there are many more types and brands out there! I know I’m better on dry powder inhalers (dpi) but a lot of people prefer metered dose inhalers (mdi) so ‘shop around’ to find the right thing for you!

Glad to have helped

Yes my specialist at the hospital prescribed this one for me as she thought I would be better taking a inhaler only once a day as I have costochondritious and it hurts my ribs when I take my sybicort twice a day , and I was having problems with montelukast so had to stop taking it . So fingers crossed this one works better . I will probably start it on Saturday as I will be on my own tomorrow and I would rather someone was with me then if I do have a reaction I can get help if need be . X

I moved from symbicort 400 to Relvar Elipta and mainly for me it has been good. I get better control and much less shaking after using it. The only real problem I have with it is when my asthma flares up badly I can’t double it up. I flare up less often tho so overall I think it is great and wouldn’t want to change off it. Hope it works for you xxx

Thanks Emma that’s really encouraging, I forgot about it this morning and took my Symbicort. Then I saw it . Damm . At what time do you take your inhaler morning or night ? X

I take mine in the morning, first thing. I try to remember to rinse my mouth after as it can give a sore mouth. Hope it works for you tomorrow 😊 xxx

Good I’ll get it ready tomorrow. I hope so too . Yes I will remember to rinse my mouth as I’m prone to oral thrush . X

Yes I was prescribed it in Dec 2017 & I find it he best I've had so far. Very effective.

Hi Justjaxx , well i have tried it for a couple of days and while I found my lungs felt better my chest pain was worse , normally if I rest I can ease it , but yesterday it just sat there, I know it’s the costochondritus but it seams to flare it and I cannot take any anti inflammatory medication. And I have a small rash on my cheek near my eye very itchy , so I have gone back to my Symbicort for now , let it settle down a bit and then try it again if it does the same thing I will know it’s definitely the inhaler. X

I had a flare up last night. I think I had an Asthma attack. I sat up & googled what to do & got myself calmed down.

I'm coughing & wheezing really bad & my chest is feeling so tight. Out come the Tena Ladies again. I will just carry on with my treatment as prescribed by the Repiratory Specialist, if I get worse I will seek help. I do have an appointment to see him again on 23 March. My head is banging this morning, I think it's a sinus headache.

Take care & gentle hugs.
