Hi I am living in Pune city India. Having allergic rhinitis since last 5 years. initial 3 years I used to take almost every day / alternate day ALLEGRA M. Last 1 year I have been shifted to Bepogra (Antihistamine by Lupin in India). If I stop it next day itching in my mouth top pallet start along with sneezing and coughing. Worst is when I start coughing a noise comes from my chest giving me feeling that something is wrong with my lungs!!! Please help me to stop antihistamines!! any suggestion / inputs are highly appreciated and worth life saving help.

Why do you want to stop them?

I'm not sure what you are trying to say, I think you are describing the after effects of when you stop, I can't see your reasoning for ceasing antihistamines, you say that "if I stop...start... coughing and wheezing", surely the antihistamines are stopping this and that is what they are designed for.

Pune is the most polluted place I've ever been to - my sister-in-law lives there. If you go up into the mountains and look down on it, you can see it shrouded in a purple haze (apologies to Jimi Hendrix!). Seems to have got worse over the last 30 years, with increasing industrialisation, a population of 8m, and increasing use of motorised transport (including 50,000 auto-rickshaws!). Last time I was there I had significant respiratory problems and my eyes streamed day and night. I got some respite in Goa but, as soon as the aircraft wheels touched the ground again in Pune, I got a cough which I couldn't shake off until I went to Australia. A couple of years after that I was diagnosed with asthma and COPD, so not surprising that the Pune air didn't agree with me.

I'm also therefore not surprised that you have problems in that environment too. If your antihistamines are working for you, then you might be well advised to continue; if not, I would seek an alternative as that level of environmental pollution is quite serious and you need all the defence you can get from it.
