Can you feel tired a lot. If you’ve been on a high dose of prednisolone lately. Been on them for 3 weeks. 5 for 5 days. Then 4 for 5 days and so on. Normally these make me feel great. However I am still quite breathless at times and have trouble sleeping.

I think prednisolone can mess with you all sorts of ways. My consultant has just put me on a 4-month plan (starting at 6 & reducing to 1) & he warned me that I'd put on weight, feel bloated, etc., & my breathing is lousy at the moment - which is why he put me on it. I guess evidence shows that over time they do work, so we probably have to be patient! Good luck & I hope you start to feel better soon.

Silent Acid Reflux is a possible side effect of taking prednisolone:-

Doctors in general won't tell you this and don't even warn you of the outcome when prescribing prednisolone.

Please be warned!

Pred Bursts typically seem to consist of a minimum of 5 Days of x8 5mg Tablets (40mg Per Day). If the 40mg Per Day Course lasts a lot longer than 5 Days (e.g. 14 Days) then often the dosage is gradually reduced rather than being stopped abruptly.

I only mention the 40mg Per Day because you seem to be saying that you were started on 5 Tabs (each - presumably - 5mg, so just 25mg for the first few days, instead of the more typical 40mg?) If that’s the case, maybe your poor response to treatment is because your initial dosage was too low?

I’m no medic but maybe worth checking with your GP.

That could be. They are 5mg. Made mistake on initial post. Was 8 for 5 days. 4 for 5 days 2 for 5 days then 1 for 5 days.

Hi I have had lots of treatment over the years with prednisone when I'm on a high dose I don't sleep well which results in tiredness and irritability. I agree that you should probably have been a burst of 40 mg my specialist asthma nurse at Glenfield Hospital told me I'm to have 40mg for ten days, no reducing as it's not effective. She also said that the five days will mask it for that time and will more often come back whereas ten days of 40mg wipes it out, since following this. ( thankfully my GP listens to me when I explain what I've been told) my recovery has been much better.

I take 5mg daily and have done for many years they keep discussing getting me off it but I haven't done as yet.

Good luck and give me a shout if I can be of any help.
