Hello,

I was diagnosed with asthma 2 years ago (I’m 20 now) and whenever I get the flu my cough is absolutely horrendous afterwards. It is relentless and doesn’t stop. I am in my final year of a law degree and really can’t afford to be ill all over CHristmas! Does anyone have any tips or home remedies please ??

Thank you in advance

Hey Saffiyah,

I've had asthma for about 27 years, (I'm 33) and can tell you that any virus (flu or cold) can really makes things worse. There is one remedy that I have used over the years that really seems to do the trick, and keeps me from overusing my meds. It's called Olbas Oil, and is a mix of herbs that I think is made in Switzerland. What you do is boil a pot of water, add a few drops of Olbas oil, and inhale the steam for as long as you like. (I cover my head with a blanket, to make a kind of steam chamber.) It is really helpful in the mornings to get rid of mucus, and I find that I cough less throughout the day.

Anyway, I hope that helps. Take care.
