I’m on Fostair 200/6 and still struggling but my GP was reluctant to give me that. I was only diagnosed with Asthma 4 months ago and it’s not got under control yet. Any ideas what I can do to help myself, or what I should be asking from the doctor please?

Have you seen your asthma nurse at the surgery yet? They are brilliant, and usually know more about asthma than the doctor does. They will also give fab advice on things you can do to help prevent attacks-simple things like Vaseline up your nose to stop irritants getting in, washing hair every night to get pollen off, etc, etc. My doctor asks my nurse for advice from my one, and goes with her recommendations. If you haven't seen yours, ask reception if you can book to see your one. My asthma took a while to settle, and every few months I was given more and more, until within 1 year I had gone from no medication to max medication on stage 4 treatment. Even with this level, I still have to up treatment several times a yr, but that's ok and it settles after a couple of wks of self-help treatment. I just kept going back to the nurse who helped me through it. Hope you get the help you need and feel better soon. Take care, I know how horrible it is when newly diagnosed. Xxxx
I know it is frustrating, but it does take a while for things to settle down. You should have a review after 6 months - book one if it's not been offered - to see how you are getting on. Most medicine is a case of trial and error to see what suits you. There is a lot of advice on the asthmaUK website and if you are worried, ring them and have a chat with one of their nurses.
