Anyone have experience of nasal drip

I had thought my antihistamines & nasal spray weren't working as I've been blowing my nose a lot and find it's gone on my chest. ( thought it was pollen at first in Aug but has carried on since)

Returned to doc & have been referred to ENT & also have a chest infection.

Sound exactly like me! Started in July with cough and bad sinuses and was told asthma returned (was fine since teenager now 32) and haven't been able to get it under control since!

Trying nasal rinsing, 2 x anti hestiamines a day and inhalers but still coughing and suffering sinus pain!

I think mine same! I've been given nasal steroid drps but I need to go back as I can't use them as they burn too much!

I don't understand how rhinitis etc can make cough bad??

As far as I know rhinitis increases the amount of mucus produced by the nose and when it drips down the throat it can cause irritation at the back of your mouth and this what increases the need to cough.

Since the summer my nose has been more runny and sinuses bad on and off. Using Nasofan twice a day and nasal rinsing seem to help. I use an air ioniser by my bed at night - quieter than an air filter - and it seems to help, as I am less stuffed up that I would otherwise be. I use antiallergy covers on the pillows. Can really make you feel 'orrible.

I cough a lot till I've managed to get it all off my chest but unfortunately it's a vicious circle - as I suffer with stress incontinence too. Hope you feel better soon x

Yes that's about right although it's been like this through the pollen season too, I do wonder how much more I can take physically x

The nurse said it could be my age, I'm 46 but I'm not peri pausal . The respiratory physio & nurse have said I've had all my allergy tests suggesting it's not anything else- I do wonder if Heartlands Allergy hospital can test you for other things?

Hope you feel better soon x

I have post nasal drip also, I can literally feel it dripping down my throat!! For me it makes my airways more sensitive. I use Avamys nasal spray and two antihistamines and still get sinus pain. I put boiling water in a jug on my bedside table and use olbas oil in that I'm then inhaling that when resting in bed. It doesn't get rid of the sinus pain completely but reduces the congestion enough to help me in the day. When it's really bad it gives me a very chesty cough and I do find that drinking lemon and ginger tea helps a little then. Nothing I've tried has worked completely but just takes the edge off it.

What are the two antihistamines you use? :). I didn't realise one could use more than 1.

I just take tablets a day - morning and night x

Hope you feel better soon too, I'm going to try 2 antihistamines x

I been prescribed a steriod nasal spray after developing a nasal drip 3 weeks ago. Nearly two weeks in the horrible feeling of things dripping Down my throat is gone but still cough occasionally. Booked myself an appointment to go back and see GP on Tuesday after 2 week trial is up.

I hope you feel better soon. And I hope you have some luck with the ENT consult. I was told by mine that unfortunately I was now on an allergic march, (with a bit of a shrug).

I use the Neil's medi-rinse (saline solution) twice a day, which helps clear out the mucus, as I am very congested in the nose currently. This has been really effective for the last couple of years or so, so that I have not needed to use anything else. But now am so allergic in the nose, I also currently supplement this with a steroid nasal spray (because), although I have been prescribed both Dymista (antihistamine spray) and/ or Avamyst, but these can only be used once a day, so I prefer having the option of a twice daily spray.

I am curious if anyone has had success with Avamyst (or Dymista)? I persevered for a week or so with both but found my congestion rapidly returned during the day, without allowing me the option to do a second spray.

I am also wondering about my nasal rinse regime. It has been hugely beneficial, I believe, at clearing out the build up of stuff, but I also wonder whether a remainder of the liquid itself (saline sachet added to a bottle of sterile warm water) then sloshes around my sinuses thereafter, itself dripping. But am not happy to go without a daily rinse to experiment.

Anybody else have this kind of regime? And any thoughts on the twice/ once daily sprays?

Hope you start to feel better, will trying rinsing. I don't know about you but you start to wonder if anything is sinister there so will feel better seeing ENT consult. Just want to have an easier time on the coughing front x
