Dust frustrations

Yesterday the sun and the sky went funny as we all know. And we got the warnings. I believe I was affected as I was coughing a lot more last night than I usually do. Today something is still affecting me. Not bad, but not brilliant either.

So, both yesterday and today I looked at the DEFRA site for more information. Nothing, almost anywhere in the UK. It seemed to say perfect air quality in most parts of the country. We know that wasn’t true. So, where do you get the latest news appropriate to inform people with respiratory problems? The funny looking sky is gone from here (York), and the day is sunny. Does that mean all that dust is completely out of harm’s way? Or are there still particles trickling down through the atmosphere, even if we can’t see them?

I don’t now know how to behave. Do I stay shut away for a bit longer? Or is that unnecessary?

I wish there was clearer information somewhere. I don’t now trust DEFRA, and I can find no up-to-date information anywhere else. I had a recent, sudden, significant exacerbation due to a cold, and I haven’t fully picked up yet. Has anyone else got a better handle on this?

My throat has felt funny since I woke up yesterday morning, it’s about the same today and I am coughing a little. I stayed in yesterday but do need to go out today but am a bit hesitant. I too wish there was more information out there about pollution, etc it is very frustrating. I was only diagnosed with asthma last year so only still learning about things.

Frustrating, isn’t it! There were comments on Asthma UK’s Facebook page, with others who seem to continue to have problems today. But Asthma UK seems to have taken its warning off its page.

Hi wheezy cat, I hope you are starting to feel better. I am back in hospital with asthma; have been home for two weeks following admission for pneumonia. I believe the dust has had something to do with my latest stay, as was feeling really rubbish on Monday. I have as yet to see my cons, but it is something I will ask her.

Hope you feel better soon! It puts my frustrations into proportion.
