Lungs are burning

I have cough-variant asthma, but I have developed another symptom: burning lungs. I can't figure out the 'trigger' or pattern. I thought it was cold air, but it happens mid summer as well. My lungs burn so bad, if I didn't know better, I'd think I was having some sort of heart problem. I just have to sit down, catch my breath and start anew with what I was doing. I'm not exercising, but this happens while mowing, climbing stairs, etc. Weird though that it's a random thing. I'm on Symbicort, Albuterol and Singular which seem to keep my cough under control 90% of the time.

My lungs burn when I lack oxygen and/or have an infection. I would make an appointment at the GP. Take care xx

A month ago I was having chest pains, cough and sores in my mouth. My doctor said it did not look like thrush, but he put me on 5 days of Azithromycin plus a one week treatment of cortisone. All of my symptoms went away except the burning in my lungs. The doctor just shakes his head about my symptoms and tells me to continue as in the past. Thank you for commenting.

My lungs burn like that when my posture is bad i.e when I’m ironing or baking and not standing up straight. Sounds like the same thing to me. Mine passes off if I sit up straight for a few minutes with a cushion behind me x

Some of my burning might be related to posture, but when I'm standing up, I get my burning not when I'm in the positions you mentioned. Thank you.

Hi. I wonder if it is acid reflux. I have this too. Basically the stomach acid gets brought back up the esophagus and can cause heartburn or even trigger asthma. Ask your dr if it can also be that. The key tell tale sign is if you have the feeling of food or something in your throat even when you wake up and before you eat. Also pay attention to see if the experience happens close to the end of a meal.

I also thought it my be related to acid reflux, but there is not pattern with eating at all. It correlates to the level of work/exercise and if the air is cold or warm. I also asked my dentist if my teeth show any indication of AR and he said there was none whatsover. Thanks.

The damage to teeth won't happen for a while. So you wake up feeling as if you've already eaten something? Also, for me it isn't always around food. Sometimes it is stress as well. I have a lot of anxiety because of my asthma. I see that the chest tightness happens when I get nervous of my environment. Curious if there is something else causint the release of the acid ... other than the obvious. For example inwojkd get tightness before I ate. Inwould feel better at a restaurant (pret) and I thought it was because they have fresh air. I moreso think it is because I ate and have good that is absorbing thr acid and making me feel better
