Hi

Your Preventer which can be brown is a steroid based inhaler which reduces the inflammation in your lungs to help keep Asthma under control. The way to look at it is if you need to use your reliever regularly then you should be prescribed a preventer. If you haven't seen your Asthma nurse in the last 6 months I would get an appointment for a review.

Thanks Mark , will make the appointment & ask about a preventer as I,m using my blue one ( ventolin ) more in fact everyday .

You should definitely have a preventer if your using your ventolin that much

It's a preventative rather than a steroid. I used to take it morning and evening and then Ventolin, but as the Asthma worsened I was given a different inhaler for morning and evening which is steroid based.

Hi πŸ… paws, I,ve just been speaking to my chemist as I can,t get into see doctor or nurse till 4th July to discuss inhalers airflusal which I have ,apparently is a preventative I didn't know this & find it hard to use when I can't take a deep enough breath to take it in , it's a sucky one & when you can't breath in the 1st place anyway he has told me to get it changed to a brown 1 & a green 1 both pump action which I find easier to use & taken together are the same as airflusal so fingers crossed 😊

I understood that all inhalers other than blue were steroid. The other colours ( not brown ) I thought were combination inhalers with steroid & reliever in them.

Don't know Lakelover, just saying what my chemist said to ask for ? 😊

Never told that at the Asthma Clinic otherwise you wouldn't need the Ventolin

I used to have the same problem until I started using a 'spacer, makes a huge difference in taking these drugs, give it a try! Your chemist will be able to sell you a 'spacer', get the large one, not the travel one for starters.
