A panic attack probably won't respond to a preventer inhaler whereas asthma generally will. Be aware though that anxiety and panic can be triggers for asthma so always try an inhaler if you feel short of breath.

Well many of us are, but panic attacks are no laughing matter. I don't know what help you've had, but see if your GP can recommend any talking therapy service (generally much better than tablets for this sort of thing). Have you tried Kalms as well? They are herbal I think but my son swears by then to get on a plane (of which he is utterly terrified) & I know of other people that have used them to modify panic attacks.

Am starting counselling next week only started having me panic attacks really bad since I come out of icu and I will try the kalms thanks for advice

7-11 breathing helps a panic attack but won't work with an asthma attack

Sorry about that.

Yes, they can seem alike (panick and asthma).

Take note of triggers for allergy as well as triggers for stress.

It does seem to confuse doctors but once they diagnose asthma then they can manage better. And also you will be more relaxed and less anxious about your symptoms knowing that it is bronchospasm that causes the weakness or breathlessness which in turn can make you panick.

Thank u am also allergic to dust strong cleaning products air freshnes put been having panic attacks more since I packed in smoking withdrawal I think x

Not sure about smoking withdrawal but that was a good decision.

I was a passive smoker. My neighbour used to smoke weed. I used to wonder why I would cough but figured it out eventually.

There was wood smoke as a factor as well.
