Hi sorry not hear you are poorly. I have just come out of hospital due to my asthma, I also on clenil ,Ventolin and steroids at moment. The doctors said to increase my clenil 200mg by one puff so now on 3 puffs x2 a day this could work for you until you get over your cold. I would go back to go as you my have a chest infection don't leave it to late. keep warm this weekend. xxC

Want is your peak flow?xC

What does that compare to your usual normal peak flow. its based on your height, sex and age

For me average peak flow is 420 but i can blow 450 everyday when well.

Cold air is a trigger for lot of people asthma and colds too. Stay warm watch your peak flow take regular ventolin every four hours. Remember if you are getting concerned about your asthma and your think you need advice ring 111.

300/350 is not that bad that's 85%. I know how you feel I getting over a cold so I am all sniffy too. Try to steam your air ways open. Put some Vick in a bowl of steam and a put a towel over your head and breath in the steam should help.

Hi Claire

if you can bare and are used to take a nasal spray I would get one before Boots closes..otrivin or something like it..don't use it for more than 3 days..even if they say 5 :)), just to prevent mucus going down your chest and at night you can sleep propped up. Paracetamol will help with incomfort if you are used to take it. Plenty of hot herbal teas with honey.

If your peak flow goes below 300 I would go to A&E, in the meantime you can use the blue more than twice a day, my respiratory specialist says 2 puffs up to 3 times a day if not we develop a tolerance..

Hope this helps should you feel worse, start coughing, make an appointment with your GP or go to the nearest walk-in clinic.

Take care xx

Hi to protect your lungs from the cold air wear a loose scarf (or a buff) around your nose and mouth when going out. This stops cold air going into your lungs and triggering an asthma attack. I hope you are feeling better soon. x

About three weeks ago as I stepped out of a hotel into the car park on a really cold morning, I was chatting to my friend and the cold air hit the back of my throat. I could hardly breath and definitely couldn't talk! My friend told me to breath in through my nose and out through my mouth and this really helped 👍 I'm new on here and really only just learning about how to manage my symptoms after not having the right care and annual follow-ups at my old Practice.

So your reply 'coughalot2' is really useful 👍

Imagine, I've had late onset asthma for 5 years and only had my first asthma review on Friday after joining a new Practice.

Good Chris I am pleased it helped a bit. It's often the simple things which are most effective. I have had asthma for around 30 years now and only recently learned to breathe through my nose when having an attack. It really helps. I don't know why but never thought of it before....

I only started having annual asthma reviews around 10 years after my diagnosis when I moved areas. This is how it was picked up that I was heading for copd around 8 years ago, otherwise I might never have known to this day. Take care. x
