I have this cold as well and have to say that it's the worst I've had for a long time! The fact that I work nights doesn't help. I'm probably gonna go to doctor on Monday if this cough is no better as think I'll need steroids as well.

Hope you feel better soon

Best wishes. I hope its not the type my wife and I came down with. For us with chest complaints it was very nasty. We coughed for 2 weeks. I went to GP and they are reluctant to prescribe anti biotics. I'm also reluctant to take them. So, as well as whatever your GP prescribes take honey and warm lemon juice. It helps smooth the tubes and does make you feel better if not cure.

I have it too, its a nasty little thing that is for sure. Mine came on literally overnight and has floored me since. If it doesn't start clearing up I will have to go to docs for some steroids as my chest is tight and I'm coughing a lot

I think I caught that one..some seem to have a runny nose but I just get chest infections, like a heavy chest with sticky mucus and I can't breathe, so steroids for me again..2nd week of struggles..Specialist didn't want me to take antibiotics and said it's a viral infection but I have to go in to give a specimen and if he finds a bacteria then he will. True that now they are into this antibiotic resistance campaign I suppose they are more reluctant to give antibiotics but that hardly helps me right now!

This doesn't sound good. I started to feel mildy unwell yesterday evening, and this morning my throat feels distinctly uncomfortable. Interestingly I had my annual asthma review yesterday morning and my peak flow check at that revealed that it had dropped by 10%. I dismissed it at the time as I felt absolutely fine and was more than a little surprised there had been a drop. However, I knew I had refluxed during the night, so I put it down to that, which the Asthma nurse was quite happy to accept (a new one, by the way, and she's lovely!). I was due to have my flu jab this weekend, but as my general health seemed to be pretty good we agreed it made more sense to have it done then.

Peak flow was still down this morning (and by that I mean lower than usual, and a little lower than yesterday too), so I've upped my preventer medication to try and stall any further decline.

Ah well, I suppose these things happen. I'm sure I'm not the first to get caught out by having a flu jab whilst being completely unaware that an infection was brewing.

Just to add to that, the cold/flu type symptoms vanished around 24 hours after they had started, which leads me to conclude that they might have resulted from the flu jab. Peak flow still a little down, but definitely improving - still not sure what caused the dip.
