Does anybody have vocal chord dysfunction?

I have just been diagnosed with this after years of telling my GP the feeling I got during exercise was not normal asthma. I've been referred to speech and language therapy to learn to control it - just wondering if anybody has been through this and what to expect?

I have recently been diagnosed but not yet at the stage of knowing how it's to be treated/managed, which probably isn't very helpful!

Sorry for late reply but have been away. I think your condition is the same as mine or similar. Mine is called spasmodic dysphonia. You will find the speech therapy very helpful. I practice the excersisers twice daily and that really helps, although in cold days my voice can go, also if I am near something that smells. It affects my breathing and when it is really bad I struggle to breathe, but as I say the speech exercise s really help. I was advised to cut out lactose ( in milk) spicy foods medicated throat pastilles and caffeine.

I found the speech therapists to be quite fun

Good luck , as I say I have recently returned home and am a wee bit tired but if you need to know more I will do my best to help you ♥
