My new doctor just prescribe this to me because of my blood test. He said that I did have chlamydia pneumonia bacteria at one time. I guess I might still have it according to my test. Is this normal for that type of bacteria?

Yes, that is the best antibiotic for pneumonia, and the correct dose for an adult. If it makes you feel any better, my 14 year old daughter has been on 500mg azithromycin three times a week for the past four years to keep pneumonia at bay. It works very well for her and she's had no side effects.
