My asthma nurse recommend this site as support as my 23 month old has just been given the steroid inhaler today . It's quite overwhelming taking all the advice and inhaler instructions in all at once anyone else feel like this at first ?

Yes. Always ask as much as you want. Never feel you can't and if you don't understand something don't ignore it ASK AWAY.
My daughter was first diagnosed as a baby, so yes I understand! With the preventer inhaler I presume you've been given a spacer device? If not, you should have been. If it helps, I made up a silly song to sing while my daughter was using the inhaler; the song lasted as long as I needed her to keep the spacer over her nose and mouth, and it became a game that she was quite happy with.
The hardest thing about having a small child with asthma is that they can't tell you how they're feeling. A persistent cough, for example, can be an asthma symptom rather than a wheeze; my daughter never wheezed unless she had pneumonia. With time you'll get to recognise all her symptoms and triggers, and even develop a sixth sense about them. Good luck.
Hi thanks for the replies, I have got a spacer and I have started singing wheels on the bus 😊. Do you know if you were advised to respray if the child moves before the time is up ?
