Asthma and living with it

I woke up one night when I was 14 and couldn't breathe. Over the years I was in and out of hospital, on various inhalers and steroids when needed. I managed to get by, have three children, then in 1991 after the birth of my last child I had really bad attack. I was put on steroids to get me back to work. I was also taking phyllocontin at the time as well. Suffice it to say to this day I am still on oral steroids (maintenance dose of 20mg), phyllocontin, montelukast, salbutamol, flixotide & atrovent inhalers. Because of the steroids (for which I am grateful as I am still alive) I have gained a considerable amount of weight, have osteoporosis, diabetes, muscle wastage, reflux, restless legs, low immune system, but as said still alive. I have to juggle my insulin amounts with the amount of steroids I take and also other medications: Ranitidine, Co-dydramol, Tramadol, Alendronic Acid, Adcal-D3, Atorvastatin, Losartin and Amitryptiline.

If I could jump am sure I would rattle lol

Hello,

I have a newly diagnosed husband I adore that was recently diagnosed. I am happy to read your post and learn from it. He has taken steroids, antibiotics and has an inhaler. He has also been told he has a decreased immune system and lung function from the asthma. I am glad you are well and wish you continued success !

Hello everyone,

We have the result from the Biopsie.

The results show that there are no signs of Cancer. What my husband has that is causing his Asthma is called Sarcoidosis. This is the next thing we have to learn about and find out about treatment for it. Thank you for your help.
