Essential oils

I read some science papers online that showed essential oils killing dust mites. The most effective was clove oil so I made a clove oil spray, just oil and water shaken up in a spray bottle and sprayed my mattress. Anyone try this ?

I've never tried this, but would issue a few words of warning - there will be readers of this site who might well be allergic to some essential oils. It is well known that some plants act as insect repellents: lavender sachets in your wardrobe are not just useful for making your clothes smell nice, they also help to keep clothes moths away: the same is true of orange zest BUT I have heard of people who are dangerously allergic to oranges and I've known people have a reaction from lavender.

That's a good point, yeah people should be cautious.
