Hello,

Over the last few days I have had a tight chest which I have needed to take my reliever to relieve it. But when I have been eating/ drinking I have been getting a sharp pain in the centre of of my chest which is very uncomfortable for a short while afterwards. Is the asthma or hay fever related? As I have both!

Hello,

I get lung pains/ chest pains all the time and I'm only diagnosed with asthma, no sign of hay fever so I'm guessing it's your asthma? My consultant also says the pain is due to your lungs working so hard.

Is it behind your breastbone after you have swallowed? Does it feel like something getting stuck? I have a problem with my oesophagus and get really bad pain behind my breastbone when I eat as my food doesn't go down the oesophagus properly and gets stuck halfway. This makes my oesophagus spasm which is really painful.

Hello

The possible oesophagus problem sounds like a good suggestion. However I have another one for you to think about.

I have something called Costochondritis which causes sharp pains in my chest and ribs. It happens to me at all times not specifically when I eat as with you, so maybe it Is your oesophagus, however I would have a look at this too,
