Severe asthma evolving to something more severe?!?!

Having had severe asthma for a few years I have recently had a severe allergic reaction to peanuts. As I was in the hospital I was outright told it was a anaphalaxis and a nut allergy. I had full body hives and gradually became breathless and very asthmatic the following day (ultimately I had to use my nebuliser to get back to normal).

Have any of you experienced developing a food allergy spontaneously?

Unfortunately allergies (to anything) can develop at any time, even if previous exposure has been without problem. I don't have anaphylaxis but have a severe grass allergy and continue to develop random drug allergies which although not anaphylaxis, lead to asthma attacks.
