Hi, newbie with a question.

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with asthma this time last year after a trip to A&E.

My GP and nurse are brilliant , I take the brown inhaler in the morning and the blue when needed .

My question is , I woke this morning with sore throat ,runny nose and man flue . I have had the flue jab

so I know it's not the flue. Should I take more brown or just take the blue to help with the phlegm?.

Thank you ,Paul.

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum,

Do you have an action plan for when you are unwell?

It is usual to increase the brown inhaler and possibly use the blue 4 hourly to help keep the phlegm moving. However, if you haven't been in this situation before it may be better to check with your GP/asthma nurse for advice as obviously I don't know your asthma. Also, if your blue inhaler is not lasting 4 hours to go see your GP.

Thank you JF for the reply.

I didn't think about using the blue one regular like my first time on the medication.

It was the freezing cold air last year that first triggered my asthma ,just after my 50th birthday!

I'll do that and phone the Nurse Monday morning .

All the best,Paul.
