Peak flow test shows normal but convinced daughter has asthma.

Please advise...I'm getting frantic! My daughter is 11 yrs and has suffered from various allergies since 5 (spores, animal hair, tree pollen etc). She used to rub her eyes and nose until she would bleed. This has developed further with 10+ months coughing mainly night time (she coughs so much she gets dizzy and sick) and has had at least 4 (asthma) episodes in the last month with gasping for breath with pain in her throat and chest (straw spores we think). Otherwise she is very, very fit (swims and runs competitively) so has a good lung capacity. Her peak flow evaluation showed erratic flow between 210-290 without steroid with no am or pm variation. With steroid it calmed around 280-300. Dr reluctant to diagnose asthma because PF did not show daily variations and she is far, far worse at night. Can anyone help please? Many thanks

See you GP and get them to do a proper check. Ie lung function and inhaler test etc.

has she had any spirometry done? Im not convinced the GP has enough information to come to that decision, particularly with the symptoms she is getting. Could you ask for further testing (spirometry etc) or get a second opinion from another GP?
