Reducing inhaled medication

I am trying to reduce my symbicort (400/12) from 3 puffs twice a day to 2 puffs twice a day. I expect to have to adjust to the reduced long acting reliever but I am really struggling in the mornings without that 3rd puff. Has anyone just reduced one end of the day and kept their worst time of day at the same dose?

are you doing this under the guidance of a doctor or just decided to do it yourself

i've never had this type of inhaled medications so no personal experience, if you get no other help from here (though i'm sure you will!) you could ring the AUK nurses and see what they say

Under the guidance of a consultant, (who discharged me back in February) he eventually wants me to aim for 1 puff twice a day. I am still using my ventolin inhaler 3-6 puffs a day, 2 of which I always need before my symbicort in the mornings. But I have only needed to use my nebuliser twice in the last 7 weeks. I am disappointed I am still needing 3 in the morning but would really like to try to keep to 2 in the evening.

Since writing the initial post too, I have thought back to when I was on symbicort SMART and realise this is something you would be doing automatically with that so maybe it is ok to try. (Having more puffs when you need it.)

I am interested to know if anyone else has done it though.
