Is this strange weather affecting anyone else?

I get such an odd sensation in my chest with the changes in weather - today my chest suddenly tightened, I looked up and it had just started pouring with rain. It's particularly muggy, windy, rainy weather today.

Is anyone else affected by this?

Hi spooky,

The weather became very damp where I live on Tuesday and I hqve been suffering since after a couple of good weeks.

Annoying!! Grrrr

Hmm, I'm not sure! Normally this would affect me, but the Symbicort seems to be keeping things more under control than usual so it's hard to tell - I'm still managing good gaps between relievers atm (yay!) so maybe not.

On the other hand, I've not been outside much and when I did I was slower than I expected to be given the recent improvements, so maybe the weather is having an effect - I'm better in the gym I think, which is much less affected.

It tends to be more hot and humid conditions that get to me, like in the summer and in a spa. Hoping I can minimise that though as I have a spa day to book yay!

yeah I've been getting a lot more symptoms of late.

Especially a tight chest whenever I;ve been outside. I reckon the weather is bringing down the pollen myself.

I've found that my lungs have been a bit unpredictable but I don't know if I can blame the weather or my 2 recent trips to London for a few deep breaths of pollution.

I think this weather is having an effect. Just talking to fellow asthma friends, they have all had worse symptoms lately and mine got so bad I ended up in hospital.

I heard there was a bug going round which attacks the chest and is really nasty :(

Mine have been a little worse recently - I just assumed it was the pollen.

They got very nasty in church the other night at choir practice - one of the floral displays was about 2 feet from me and jam packed with lilies!

Lilies are my nemesis.

they're mine too

Yep, definately the weather. I thought I was doing ok back at work teaching inside and outside without any problems, however the last couple of days I've been really struggling and I even had to take a class in early today. ( I think the girls were happy about this, it was so cold doing athletics)

Hi I'm a newbie. My chest has been really bad this last few weeks, I have a neb at home and had to use it 4 times in last couple of weeks

Its deffinately the weather doing mine.

I read this yesterday :-(

My son has had a bad attack this week and ended up having a couple of days in hospital.

Clarebear, thanks for that link, it made really interesting reading. How many of us are going to add rain to their list of triggers, I wonder.

Thanks clarebear, that does make sense. Had a sleepless night a couple of weeks ago when there was a really big storm, and was bad again Thursday night when it was very wet and windy. Think it is the stormy weather combined with hayfever season that seems to do it for me. So disappointed as had had several really good months hardly needing any ventolin. Have had a cough for a couple of weeks now, which initially hadn't affected my breathing too much, but think a trip to GP will be in order if it doesn't improve in the next few days.

Interestingly my A&E visit last year was on a really stormy day in May and the doctor said then they had seen lots of asthmatics.

Both my daughters main trigger is the weather. Humid, damp conditions have them both struggling. Throw pollen into the equation and it's the icing on the cake!

At the moment, my eldest has hayfver symptoms and a sore tight chest, while my youngest is SOB, coughing and keeps getting croup!

Arghhhhhhh!!!!!! We all need some lovely dry sunshine. I always find when we go on Hols to Europe, they are both symptom free! ;-)

Thanks for the information ClareBear that probably explains why I have been suffering so much this week and ended up in A&E on Monday.
