would like some advice please...

Hello, im new. Have come on to this wonderful site fro some advice. My son Joshuas will be 3 yrs old in may. he has had a tough 3 years, he was diagnosed with craniosynostosis (premature fusing of his skull sutures) when he was 8 weeks old. He underwent reconstructive surgery at BCH when he was 6 months old. He still has on going problems with this but thats a long story!! lol

so im on here for advice, for the last 8 nights Josh has been waking in the night with very bad coughing attacks, to the point where he coughs so bad he struggles getting his breath. what puzzles us is he has not had a cold for 5 months now (touch wood), he doesnt cough at all in the day but once at night he starts and it awful for him. Im shattered for the sleepless nights.

we have asthma in both sides of the family, my mum and my 2 brothers suffer terrible with it.

Can u just suffer with it at night and be fine in the day? he doesnt have any wheezing either, just

this terrible cough that rears its ugly head at night.

thanks in advance

heidi

welcome,

try putting a book or something to make the bed rise at the head,

Better that extra pillows and stiff neck.

TRY allergy sheet over mattress and allergy free pillows and even no carpet use vinal or laminate.

Hope he soons settles down and these tips ive picked up on here help a little.

Welcome again you will make lots of friends and support on here.lol Glynis xxxx

Has he been diagnosed with asthma? If not i'd suggest taking him to your GP and they can do tests to rule it in or out. But asthma symptoms only at night is very common, and a lot of asthmatics get worse at night as well as expericing day time symptoms. If it is asthma try taking reliever before bed and a preventer but your doctor will be able to tell you about those.
