I dunno what my average is but i tend to get around 540 - 550, at the moment it's around 500-520 which sounds good and it is compared with others but my peak flow doesn't show what my asthma is doing. I can easily feel tight chested yet have a peak flow of 540

Christine

oddlyenough i worked this out on a calculator (yes i was very bored!) and my over all avarage is 305 l/min, but its meant to be 465 l/min according to good old dr ford. right now its down around 250-270, but for some it wont always show what things are doing, you can feel tight chested at any reading.

ps, christine, what is your expected?

Hiya

Mine is usually 450 but at the moment its 350 400

I agree you can feel tight chested at anytime.

hi mine is usally about 340 ish but at the mo 240 ish mi best is about 400

Wendy, my expected is 470 my best is 570! (but only had that about 2 or 3 times and was quite shocked at the time lol)

Christine

Hi

Mine is usually around 380 when im well but over the last couple of weeks it has dropped to 240/260 and im still on 8 pred a day!

Kym :-)

My best is 450 but its very rare to see it for mths at a time!

Average is around 250 on a really good day but be lucky to see my 999 level recently of 100 or lower!

But I lucky cons trusts me to be good and go in IF I cant cope before I reach the 100 mark!

Been below 100 few days this week BUT not felt to bad so have hardened it out but generally if I cant talk and is below 100 then mum takes over on 999 calling!

And thats on betamethasone dose equivalent to 60mg of pred!

Wheezer have you thought of asking for a referal to RBH your GP can do it if your cons won't sounds like you need the best of the best looking at you. And we can all come visit too :)

Bex

Bex I got one in with Heartlands (Brum) :)

You can't beat the RBH, and by the sounds of it Heartlands are hardly sorting you out. All we ever read is how bad things are. take control back hunny and ask for a referal only a idiot would want to remain as ill as you seem to be.

Bex

My average is 550 but lately I'm getting about 390-420ish with the pollen

wen it drops to 375 or less I'm most likely lounging around drifting in light headed cloud-cookoo-land!

Heartlands will be ok when I finally GET to an appointment !!

Took me years to get PCT funding for Heartlands referral and given RBH is FAR to far for me from here got not a cat in hells chance of it being changed!

But to be honest whats bad for me seems normal to me now it ben so long!

Sad aint it!

My normal cons it top allergy and asthma Dr as it is BUT they all have their off days!

Ive come along way with him since the beginning when thinngs were hell!

Wheezer, you have PFs of 100, you have joints that are agony, your chest is in a constant state of rebellion, you are allergic to everything. I think it is about time you put your foot down and got the help you clearly need. You know once I got my RBH referal they moved like greese lightening to help me and from what you say I am not half as bad as you are.

Forgive me for saying this but instead of posting here feeling sorry for yourself get pro-active and get yourself sorted before it is too late and asthma has robbed you of any chance of a normal life.

Bex

wheezer - sorry to intervene here - but i was inder the impression you had got your heartlands appointment some time back and a friend was going to pay for you transport! I even seem to remember you saying you had been offered a chance of an earlier appointment but you refused this - i particularly remember this as i thought this was strange - |I think if i were anywhere as near as ill as you I would jump at the chance of an earleir appointment - still maybe it is my age and i am remebering incorrectly. Good luck anyway

baba

My best pf is 500 but when i get really tired specially after working a 7 shifts on a run they can drop to 380 but usually after a few puffs into the aerochamber and a good nites sleep I am not to bad in the morning.

Asthma being quite good at the minute evening attempting to drop my seretide down from 500 x 2 puffs to 250 x 2 puffs fingers crossed it going well.

My average is 450, but at the moment maybe because of the pollen I am struggling to meet 350!! Feeling like a great big bag of mucus!! :)

To put the record straight!

Ok here I go again, how many times people are gonna do this I dont know, I have proof of the Heartlands referral but the appt I got fell when I couldnt help being in my local hossie last mth so NOW gotta wait for a new date!

Least the Heartlands understood it cant be helped!

And Ive not given up on anything but I thought that people would understand when ya BODY throughs something NEW at ya ontop of everything it DOES get ANYONE down!

I'll have to remember not to bring my moaning to a support forum next time!

If this is defensive well thats because it is!

I'm sick of defending myself to others so if ya dont like it tuff!

Ding ding ding...

...End of round 15 now folks.

No flaming-I for one don't want to be logging on here for a bit of light relief from my illness, and reading my cyber buddies flaming rows- the boxing is over now, let's get this thread back on track and have a few more PF numbers posted please.

Each one to his, or rather her own.

Hmmmm. So. Dunno what my PF is.

It has gone on holiday. After endless weeks of 2 hourly PFs in December courtesy of said RBH I sent both my EU Wright scale and Piko PF Meters packing!

I know my lungs now, the weird bits and the everyday bits, and if i'm tight, gasping, turning blue, you name it, I know what to do. They're only numbers after all!

How's the rest of you holding up......

Wheezer, I was not asking you to defen d yourself. Far from it. You come across as sickest person bar Lis on this board. I don't know how old you are but of you are not careful your illness is going to totally destroy you. I have had the privilage to meet a few folks on here and the one thing that struck me was their determination to get on with it and not to moan and sit and groan about everything. I posted about TKS on camping and without a word of lie she amazes me. Others here who daily stuggle to get into work and lead a normal life against all the odds put me to shame as indulge in hours of extreme sofa practice, however I have a new drug it works and I am desperate to get out of the starting blocks. The one thing you can say about almost everyone here is sure they moan every now and again but read through your posts, when was the last time you did not moan and tell us how bad your life is. I am no doubting you hunny, I am however worried that unless you get proper help and proper help soon you will never be able regain normality.

Bex

I have deleted 2 of my previous postings as it has rightly been pointed out that I am one of the lucky of ones, I have a very good local consultant and I have been refered to the RBH quickly who have thankfully sorted me out, and I am getting on-going care from them.

My post which on re-reading was very harsh was not meant to be. Some here clearly do have the devils own job getting sorted, that is wrong not just for wheezer but for anyone in her situation. People should not have to fight to get the help they need, it is sad they do.

I do stand by my comments that constant negative posting I think it creates a wrong impression of both what this board is about and it scares some people, not to mention it can mean you become too focused on what is bad in your life and not on what is good.

For the record I am about to IM Wheezer with an apology that I don't think is right to put here. Also for the record I have been living with PF's of under 100 I have spent more time over the last 6 months in costa than out and I have had several trips ITU during that time and been intubated more than once so I do know what it is like at the rough end of asthma, I have been living that hell too, I know what it is like. I am lucky and I guess I am also naturally very positive in my outlook with 4 kids to look after I don't have much choice! Maybe that is why it I get upset when I read so much negativity, sometimes when I am having a bad time I want to read of things going well for others it gives me hope.

Apologies for any hurt caused and I hope people will take this edited post in the spirit in which it is posted and that is one of mutual support and help.

Hugs

Bex

well here are my stats... my expected is 470 (i think) my best is 500, and normally i'm around 450-470. weird thing is that by the time i'm down to 400 its all gone horribly wrong...but then i have constant breathlessness even at my high averages. think maybe i'll throw my meter away soon too.. its only use is to tell me how likely my ventolin is to work...

Bex the post you deleted said it all really for me. We all have a bad time every now and again some worse than others that doesn't mean we have to drag the other members of this forum down with us, this is asthma we have to get on with it controlled or not. I know this is a support forum and I know we've had problems we negative posts in the past sometimes I dread coming to this forum, I want to see how my friends are doing but most of the time I'm over whelmed by how negative the posts are. Maybe we're all just going through bad patches at the moment I don't know but can you imagine if a worried member of the public stumbled upon this forum? I'm 18 and so far I've had it pretty rough but if I was to dwell on my situation I would be very down in the dumps. I do go to other forums one of them being the CF trust boards and in my opinion some of the CF teenagers there are a lot worse off than I am and its amazing how positive even some of the really sick ones are. I am in no way comparing CF to asthma I guess I’m just saying take a look around believe it or not there are people worse off than us.

I'm sorry if I've offended anybody with this post

tks xxxxxxxxxxx

stop

Can we please end this here! Enough is enough. People have been upset by this. No one person is worse of then another, and people deal with things in different ways. We all need a good moan and winge sometimes, and sometimes we need a laugh. So if you don't want to read negative things then just bypass the post, move on to the next one. This is a board where you can post how you feel and it should stay that way. - This doesn't need any replies

Now back to average PF's. I don't tend to do mine much, find it changes too much throughout the day to be accurate. I do it when am not feeling good though.

Not the orrible numbers ok here goes!

Predicted:-480

Best in last 12mths :-340

best 2day:- 180( post neb average in last month)

pre neb in morn :-80-100max!

Wish i could just stay over 200!

My pf’s are pretty stable ATM thanks to the pred. (Grumble moan swear under breath.) averaging between 200 to 360, and much improved symptoms.

Now if only I could maintain that sort of level sans pred I would be one happy all singing all dancing bunny.

my averrage is betwen 80 - 120 pre nebs and 140 - 190 post nebs

I am going to make you all sick now, 420 this morning! Woohoo.

Slight 310 blip this evening but I have re-located to Devon after leasving the RBH and I am due a neb.

Bex

Rusty - am going to shut my eyes to that!! Dont want me nagging you do you???

Wheezer - sorry you had to cancel appointment - didnt mean to upset you - just though it was coming up soon (was nearly right! - not bad for a blonde!) and wondered whether you had had it yet. I thought you may have postponed it cos of new better local cons as he seems to be listening and trying to help (bout time too!). If it is a long way off again you could always ask GP to push for it to be brought forward! But as you say - having to push contantly only results in lower peak flows half the time, so I vote for inventing new peak flow meters which read higher for those with low peak flows - a good psychological boost - failing that eat more G&B's!

Back to the thread in hand, I must admit havent done my peak flow for a few weeks - I feel pretty good so that will do for me!! What are numbers anyway? lol

However my best is 450 and i am averaging 350ish lately (may be a bit more now - suppose i better find where I put that darned meter!)

Baba

here goes for my stats,

they do get evry wandered sometimes but thend to stick between 300 and 360. my predicted is 475 but i ahve blown 450. they do also drop when bad down to below 100 but by then normally in hossie so we try not to go there too often!!! m y goal for the end of the year is to get back up there to 450 or better. it would be awsome to reach my predicted.

take care

This looks a good tread my predicted in EU is 434 old styly 481

mornings around 400 but night drop to around 340. To some that might good really good. But like some others my pfs don't alway show how ill i'm feeling. I can start the day high and then start crashing pf only going to 340-350 but feel really ill. Maybe now i'm showing early bronc damage i might get a Piko i will have to talk nicely to costa asthma nurse hehe.
