  • i get a few chest infections every year, winter being terrible for me. i take carbosistenien (erm not sure if thats spelt right). this makes the phlegm much easier to bring up as its thinner. maybe you could ask your doc about that?

  • Glynis, I used to get lots of chest infections, always triggered by a cold. I've been through periods of one after another, even the GP couldnt believe it. Same with my son. He had a long year of chest infections. It's like the chest is weakened and just succumbs to the next infection that comes along.

But I do find with mine that I can cough up the green (yuk!) gunk and I always try to spit it out. My chest feels a bit better when I cough something up, and then tightens up again. It's strange but my son NEVER coughs anything up - he says it trickles back.

    Hope you feel better soon.
