Pneumonia vaccination

Following on from the recent flu jab posts, I was wondering who with asthma should get this. I haven't considered it before but since last winter, have had the worse asthma for me yet.

Also have seen what it can do to others so think I will ask at my next appointment about it. Has it been offered or has it been difficult to get?

Mine was offered to me several years ago, when I had gone in for flu jab and nurse checked my records and saw I was due one.

Yes, it's a good idea to get it. The pneumonia vaccination isn't a yearly one though. I think it either very 5 or 10 years that you have it.

Like Malawi2 I was offered one about 4 yrs ago at the same time as flu jab.

Thanks for the replies so far. I have never been offered it but will ask at next appt this coming week

I think it is every five years. I just got my second one and had to laugh as I asked about it, and got one it about...oh a minute! I think they wanted to give it to me before I changed my mind!

For me, it was my GP who asked me one day last year whether I'd ever had one: she sent me straight off to the nurse saying I 'ought to have one' since I tend to pick up all kinds of bugs at school.
