Joining the RAF as a pilot

Hello. I really want to be a pilot in the RAF but Iv'e had very minor asthma before and I dont even know if it was asthma because when I went in, my doctor didn't test me, he just gave me an inhaler prescription!

Doe's anyone know if it's possible to have asthma took off of your medical record or aren't they allowed?

You couldn't have it taken off your medical record, but that wouldn't be an issue as long as you remain asthma symptom free from now on.

The RAF will only reject applicants who have suffered from asthma in the four years prior to their application to join. Since this happened in the past, and since you're only 14 now, by the time you can join the RAF more than four years will have passed.

It's also possible that the event was not recorded as asthma on your medical record anyway. If in doubt, get an appointment to see your GP and ask to see what's recorded on your files.

Thankyou - I know about the 4 year thing but - I asked them on the email service and they said if youve ever suffered from asthma after the age of 4 , you cant even be a pilot!

Then you need to see what is recorded on your medical records. Your GP will tell you if you ask.
