Prednisolone and alcohol

Was due to go out on Saturday - hardly ever go out, but not sure if I can drink on these tablets. On 6x5mg for the next seven days, looked at the leaflet and can find no reference to drinking alcohol. Does anyone know whether it is ok? A friend of mine had them regularly and used to drink on them but not sure what the ""rules"" are.

Hi I would say if your asthma still isn't that great drinking wouldn't be a good idea anyway. But if your Asthma is much better having a drink and being sensible won't be a problem. I have taken high dose steriods/Pred for years and when I am well enjoy the odd drink.

Thank you Katina, had asked a friend same question by email last night and she said that she was told not to drink anything at all. So googled it and found conflicting advice. I kinda figure that if it's not on the information that came with it, it cant be too bad???

mummy jones i take pred full time and i regularly drink at weekends you will be fine just dont go over the top as if u need it as a short sharp shock then then ur obviously not to clever and alcohol can make you worse.

Mummy JOne I wne tout last weekend for valentines and I am not a big drinker I was on 8 5mg tablets and I had a few drinks in total I had 5 units which is 2 over the recommended limit but I was fine after woulds and have had no long term damage. Gag it by how you feel on the night if you don't feel good then don't drink but still go out. Hope you have a lovely night out and take care

Having been on pred for nearly 13 yrs continuously ( 25mg up to 100mg) i have drunk without any problems providing i stick to what im used to and never had any problems .

If you feel well enough to go out then do and enjoy yourself but listen to your body as being poorly can cause the alcohol to affect you more quickly(nothing to do with meds tho) but pred is not an isue.

Thank you!!! Will feel happier about it now. Will just have one or two - I am not a big drinker. Might be an idea to have a beer this evening as a ""tester"" lol.

There will be a while in between taking the tablets and having booze so that will help too I guess! Yey for Saturday!!

Been taking 5mg of prednisolone each morning for past 5 years reckon am in quite good health with the odd chestiness from time to time which is cleared with a puff or two of the blue inhaler l also enjoy a regular bottle of beer each day but am fine when l feel sicker l concentrate on healing myself and give up all drinking of all alcohol until am certain my health status is much improved
