Anyone take Alendronic Acid?

Hi all,

Can someone help? Does anyone know how long the side effects of Alendronic Acid last ? I can't breathe in without a sharp pain and have been moaning all night, cant move properly either. Painkillers aren't touching it. Not looking for medical advice. Will get some if it doesn't ease up :) just wondering if the effects last the whole time you are on these tablets?

Cheers :)

I have been on Alendronic Acid in one form or another for about 12 yrs and have no side effects. You should take the tablet first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Take it with a big glass of water and then stay upright (no lying down in bed!) for an hour. You can then take drink/food. Side effects such as you describe happen when the Alendronic Acid does not pass straight down but lingers in the Osophegus causing irritation. Also your pain might not be anything to do with Alendronic Acid - it might be something else. Please get it checked out with GP. Good luck.

Thanks :) will get it checked out I think, I'm pretty wheezy again!

yes I take alendronic acid but I make sure I get the small round ones as the big horse pills get stuck in my oesophagus. I have found a local chemist that does the small ones.
