i have been fine and had 10 days in disney this year on various roller coasters.

Well I went to the London Bridge Experience (like the dungeons) and only managed as far as the first room before I had to leave due to my asthma (smells etc.) they wouldnt even give me a refund!

When I go. I see how my asthma is. If it's a bit shakey I tend to avoid the white knuckle rides. When it's ok I give it welly. I avoid sitting in the front seats but sit in the middle. Don't like the sensation of the wind catching your breath also I take extra salbutamol....... Maybe this adds to the shakes of the ride.

I'm a complete adrenaline junkie, and love roller coasters, and have never had a problem with them as far as my asthma is concerned - in fact,I think adrenaline is good for asthma, and in extremely severe cases may be used to treat it. However, bear in mind that asthma is individual to everyone so what is ok for one person may not be for the next.

hi Bizkid,

You should be ok as long as you dont get to stressed as that's not good for asthma.

Have a brill time and lots of fun.

The viking boats are brill and you can shoot water jets over to another boat and also

aim it and soak people waiting to go on it. you will love it .

Went to Alton Towers 2 years ago with asthma. Found I was taking my inhaler after every ride but sooo worth it.... next time will try taking a puff before the rides, then I can enjoy them without worry.

Have a good time!

Ps I agree that asthma is a condition unique to everyone, and my asthma is mild, so you may want to take other preventative measures :)

someone said: i think adrenaline is good for asthma; i can officially confirm this, since there have been times in ICU when i was given IV of adrenaline to combat the asthma attack!!

Adrenaline fine in controlled settings but you may crash as you come off an adrenaline high!

I used to have this problem doing 12 hr St John First aid Stints! Sat down at 10pm knackered and went off big time!

I did all the ""older"" rides ones I could put my O2 on the floor and hold it down with my feet and I did get to do the roller coaster. The staff were great about giving advice and I think you can have 2 people with a you who will have a special wrist bands allowing you to ride with the disabled person and if you are in a wheelchair there are usually special enterances. Please be careful some rides can be a nightmmare to get off! But there is still plenty of fun to be had.

ps don't hire one of their wheelchairs they are a nightmare to push,

All I can add is that on Asthma UK's Kick Asthma Holidays, we often take the older age group (the teenagers) to a theme park for a day trip. Thorpe Park and Alton Towers have both been visited, and we've never had any problems.
