Feeling a little sheepish about asking this...

So here goes a somewhat daft question (daft, because I think I really should already know this or not be puzzled about it at all :S)-

I have had 4 nights unbroken sleep (in a row) for the first time in ages :) and have generally been feeling more able to function without my asthma kicking off for the last week- so pleased and fingers crossed there are no more thunder storms and it stays that way!! Out of interest thought I would take the AUK control test to see what my score would be, hmm, realised I don't really know how to answer the last question;

Q5. How would you rate your asthma control during the past 4 weeks?

Not controlled

Poorly controlled

Somewhat controlled

Well controlled

Completely controlled

Now this probably sounds totally stupid but what is the differene between poorly versus somewhat and well versus completely? Are there definitions for each (like the guidelines for classifying mild vs. moderate etc? Or is the idea just to make a personal judgement? I'm happy to do this but wondered if these ratings are meant to link to peak flows, use of reliever etc. Does completely controlled really mean no symptoms at all!?! The other questions are just so much easier to answer as they are related to numbers and my brain likes that :)

I hope everyone who is not feeling so good gets better really soon and those that are feeling good stay that way!!

Thanks for reading

Lee

Not sure, haven't ever done the test, but as there are 5 options, the first and last are easy,

Not controlled = 0%

Completely controlled = would be 100% no sysmptoms

then the easy way would be to work out 25, 50 and 75% for the remaining three options, and based on your own judgement.

From your post you basically have said 1 week Ok in the last 4 so that would roughly be 25% OK, so you could pick poorly controlled, but as things are seeming to be getting better maybe somewhat would be a better option ?

Thats how I would workout an answer, but you or other may have a different opinion.

Thanks for the reply woody-som, I think your answer is completely sensible, it's just that bit about using your own judgement I don't like. That's probably an odd thing to say I just think thats it's so easy to loose track of what 'good' control is, as 'ok/poor' control easily becomes 'good' if you sit at that point for long enough and forget what 'good' really is or can be. This is a trap I have definitely fallen into more than once before!! But for now being more proactive about taking pf recordings and taking note of increased preventer use is the way forward!

Thanks again

Do you guys know?

I was actually wondering if you knew about that other question...

How many times w week does your asthma wake you up at night?

My answer is hardly ever, but I get chest tightness in the morning 5 out of 7 mornings a week...

So sometimes I use that questions to record that....

Is there some other way I should be recording that, like under general symptoms? I usually don't take anything for it because it gets better after I've been up for a half hour or so.
