**sorry if its in the wrong place**

I've been on singulair a week, had a 10 day course of prednisolone (SP?). finished the pred. wheezing seems to have got worse [feeling constantly wheezy now, not audible to others], coughing more than i usually do [dont normally cough], chest tightness eased up a bit, but getting really short of breath doing basic things, getting dressed is an issue, although i can speak easily enough without getting short of breath, i'm sleeping, which WAS a BIG issue for me before starting on them. i have a review on the 24th with GP to see how the singulair is going, would it be worth going back asap or leave it till my appointment?

Hi Emma.

Sorry you're having such a bad time. i've not used Singulair so i don't know how long it usually takes for it to kick in, but if you're feeling worse it might be worth another visit to the doctor. I have a long history of hoping that things will improve by tomorrow and not going back to the doctor until I'm in real trouble so I know why you're hesitating. Maybe someone with more experience of Singulair will be able to give you some pointers about the way it usually works.

Good luck

xx

Hello,

I've been on singular/montelukast for several years since shortly after diagnosis. Think it did take a while to have an effect and may have had to increase steroid inhaler. I remember your A&E post recently and sounds like you've had a rough few weeks at least.

It's definately worth getting an earlier appt as you feel worse in some ways, have you seen an asthma nurse at the practice? They usually have more time too.

cheers for the replies. :) I have seen the nurse yeah. she was more help than the doctor i saw. she increased my steroid inhaler, & got me a spacer sorted out. i'm kind of thinking ""everything gets worse before it gets better"" with it. i'll try get in to see doctor if i'm awake in the morning.

saw doctor the other day, got put on a purple inhaler (seretide), blue inhaler & singulair. my peak flow is highest its ever been (500 - normally 290ish) yet i still feel really groggy. is it normal? >.<

i sometimes feel awful yet peak flow is okayish and vice versa.

also singulair takes few weeks to kick in fully.

also you may feel 'groggy' cos of side effects of meds ?
