Just a quick how do to the few people who understand such an episode.
last sunday, i put myself in a taxi to a&e, struggling to breathe and very tachycardic. 8 days later and i'm still here.
nebulised first (not all at once) with salbutamol, saline, and sodium chloride. i.v. of magnesium and oxygen therapy. (all with a daily dose of pred, now being given singulair)
four days of doing little else than lying in a hospital bed, slowly coming off the nebs, having blood thinners because of restricted mobility. Still breathless, pulse and obs finally coming down into normal ranges and hoping to go home and recuperate properly.
Still on the seretide 500 + bricanyl 0.5 as usual. anyway, just thought id share in summary of one of my worst attacks to date.

get well soon. i've had my first hospital overnighter in a&e. nebs for first time and it was weird. now in bed recovering and will be for the next 3 days!

Confined to my little flat at the moment, until my energy levels return, struggling to make a brew without needing to sit down. Home on Seretide 500 and Singulair.

Just a quickie update while listening to the wind howling outside
have been back to work for almost two weeks now, the best they've done for me is ensure i have wet clinical wipes for my desk to keep dust down. In my return to work, i was told explicitly not to expect any sympathy as everyone had been really busy and stressed because the workload is currently the highest we've seen. This is a role where people want complicated things done yesterday.
I had a hard time explaining to my immediate superiors exactly how bad my attack was, and ended up going above their heads when one of them decided i had to make up for being off by doing a job that we each have one day a week, which requires going to the printer roughly every ten minutes, twice in my first week back. the closest ones of which weren't working so his advice was to go to one further away.
It's a high pressure job and i can't do the overtime at the moment, towards the afternoon i start getting chest pains (i've spoken to my asthma nurse who treated me in hospital and sees my as an outpatient now and she's not overly worried as it was a life threatening attack, probably muscular not coronary) and told me to not try and do too much)and feel like the team pariah, one colleague hasn't spoken a word to me since i returned, not even a how are you doing?
anyway, none of this is really getting me down or stressed, i'm doing the best i can, and am recovering well if slowly. Also managed to find out what my direct triggers are i'm more informed about my illness than ever and feel i have the best support now.
