Interesting question! I've always understood from my docs, etc. that hot weather is not a 'proper' trigger, but I definitely find it harder to breathe when it's hot and 'close'. It feels almost as though the air is too thick to breathe, if that makes any sense. Such a shame, as I love it to be sunny...

Apparently humid air can carry more allergens (and presumably pollution?), so that might explain why you feel worse in the hot weather.

Its not too much of a problem here in Aberdeen because it is never hot! Such a shame you can't jsut sit out and enjoy the sun.

Its not nice or fair ive used my neb billy a few time and inhalers alot today its just totally unfair that cant even go out and enjoy sunshine so i just got my doors open instead been to asda not a good idea xxx

uggh yes, I feel like I'm wearing a corset! Figure it's the humidity as pollen etc aren't a trigger for me - but given my usual reaction to hot and steamy places like the shower I reckon high humidity outside will probably have a similar effect. But at least I can get out of the shower!

Also feel more dizzy than usual which is annoying.

Had a big asthma splat today.x

I thought it was the weather that has put me in hospital twice in the last week but went back to the doctors today after getting out of hospital early this morning and have been put on antibiotics for an infection. Be warned don't always blame the weather although I don't think its helping me as well as infection :)

I'm not having too much difficulty breathing but I'm getting very tired mid-afternoon - might be my age, though!

Thank You for replies im glad im not alone going to bed with inhalers and omron on standby not a nice feeling but what must be must be chest ok at min just hope it stays that way and same goes for the rest of you hope your lungs behave nite xxx

i find when it is really hot or there is high humidity then my asthma gets bad, especially at night when it is very humid

Hot weather definitely not helping me, home from work this morning as chest really tight and inhaler not helping. We keep having cloudy/thundery spells which I find the worst thing as it gets very humid and I feel as if I'm suffocating.

I'm currently inpatient at the Royal Brompton, and my doctors were commenting this morning that all their asthmatics are complaining about the weather today! So it does sound as though it's fairly common to struggle when the weather is like this... I feel ok, as I'm on IV aminophylline (my 'wonder drug'), but usually when the weather is hot and humid, I feel as though the air is too 'thick' to breathe easily. Like trying to breathe a McDonald's milkshake!

I am in sussex and I am really struggling with milk shake air...like that description.

Wishes - IV aminophyline also my wonder drug....but also have the oral sort so am very lucky to be able to take it but in certain circumstances I have to be topped up with the IV juice.

Wish I could have Aminophilin but it sets my SVT off so I have a red band also when im in hospital used to sort me out great but one of the icu drs realised it was that that was sending my heart into 200 + beats a min so its off the menu asthma not liking weather today either take care everyone and all in costa hope escape is on the map xxxx

I have AF but they - ICU docs here too decided they would rather sort that out and give me the aminophyline than cope with lungs without it! It is very very warm and humid here feels like rain is in the way.

The weather here is very hot and thick, chest sore and heavy, ribs doing the fandango. It rained very briefly and it cooled slightly, but its starting to get very humid again. Tried to avoid going out, but son has had several nose bleeds that wont stop, so had to go to gp and then ended up in local a&e with him.The heat in town was bad and the pollution and dust was quite noticeable.

Hope it cools off tonight so we can all at least attempt to sleep and not struggle so much with asthma.
