swine flu and asthma

I need a bit of advice. I hav e been off work for 5 weeks with swine flu.

Since contracting it I have had really bad trouble breathing and my gp has said she thinks the swine flu has left me with permanent damage to my lungs and tubes and she would be put me on the asthma register.

What does all this mean, I have had no experience of asthma and find it really frightening when I cant breathe.

Can someone please give me some help
