Does anyone else have problems with appointments being changed? My local hospital has now changed my next consultants appointment 3 times.... which is a joke in itself and the worst of it that it should have been in June now its in December.... I feel there is a complaint comming on.....

Hi Know how you feel, my appointment was changed 3 times, then I was booked in with the wrong consultant and when I asked the appointment booking system to change the appointment they refused. Felt like you a whinge and a moan, so I did, and my respiratory nurse got it (politely I might add) that I was cheesed off. Apparently consultants often arrange study and annual leave after Clinics have been set up, and unfortunately for me they had chosen to arrange their leave on the occasions I had appointment. My question is well why don't consultants arrange study/annual leave before clinic dates are planned? My answer is that would be too simple! Lets waste administration time, money and postage costs, booking and canceling patient appointments, because we all know that the NHS has money to waste. I am so cynical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm even more cynical and I've worked within the NHS. Various departments. Waiting lists would drive me crackers when admin not told what was happening further up the tree.

Hospital Appointments

Hi

Yes we've had the same scenario with appointments being cancelled the day before and usually when my son is really in need of seeing a consultant. We would then be given an appointment two months off so I would have to return to the GP, usually only to go round in circles again. Three weeks ago I really complained when I was told it would be several weeks before another appointment came up. I said to the appointment person I would go back to the GP again as we were having problems with my son's medication. Suddenly we had an appointment 10 days later. My husband and I have considered paying to go private but haven't because we don't know how much we will end up paying.
