Bonfire Night

So...who else decided to go out to the fireworks and to hell with asthma? Know a couple of others did. I did, had a great time but think my lungs are now cursing me! They weren't that happy last night and now they're really letting me know about it. But then I've noticed they don't like it whenever I go out anywhere and have fun...party poopers.

ME!!!!! It was fine until the bonfire went out soon after they tried to light it and spewed thick black smoke everywhere at which point my sensible sister decided we were moving... I actually had more problem with people's cigarette smoke than the bonfire/fireworks - I didn't understand why they didn't just open their mouths and take in all the free smoke rather than using cigarettes!

lol Ratty, I believe the poisonous smoke coming from the bonfire doesn't have the same connoisseur's elements to it... unless of course you put a whole load of cigarettes on the bonfire!

Just a small fire in a barbecue type bowl and some fireworks at the in-laws' place but the smoke really did for me and had to keep moving away even though I was freezing and everyone kept saying ""come and stand by the fire to keep warm""! I even had to get someone else to toast my marshmallows! Yummy though. Why is it that wherever you stand the smoke comes towards you? Some of the fireworks put out a large amount of smoke too - haven't had any home ones for years. It was enjoyable apart from the complaining lungs!

I stayed in because my lungs didn't like the change in the atmosphere. I do like to see fireworks but it will be via the TV. Glad you got to see it, sorry your lungs are acting up.

I stayed at home with the windows firmly shut, unfortunately the bonfires and fireworks came to me... we live next to allotments and large number of bonfires where lit so air was blue! Never need to buy fireworks as we get an on/off display all evening without going anywhere...

I stayed in with all the doors and windows shut and my air purifier turned on. No problems with my lungs at all, but I still jumped a mile in the air every time there was a loud bang!

The one day of the year when I should be out enjoying myself is Bonfire Night - its my birthday - but stayed indoors with doors and windows tightly closed and had a chinese takeaway instead!

I went to the big fireworks display our council organise on the beach. There was no bonfire but the air was still full of the smoke. It was all over too quickly though! My dog probably would disagree!

Oh no valj :( Hope you enjoyed the Chinese anyway and are able to do something else to celebrate. A belated happy birthday.

Glad to see some other people were not sensible. Though the degree to which I was not sensible seems to be increasing day by day...unless this is just a cold which is having fun attacking my lungs. Or maybe it is just Guy Fawkes' revenge lol

The trick is to find something else to blame your symptoms on - it's got colder recently, that's the problem - nowt to do with the bonfire afterall!

Did anyone burn a Guy this year? My sister and I noticed a distinct lack of Guy's on the bonfires round here - we were wondering if this was some new politically correct / health & safety move?

haha yes, and in fact I think a cold is a reasonable explanation given the presence of gunk, or rather the theoretical presence - I'm pretty sure it's there, I just can't shift it! Seeing physio on Monday, perhaps she can help if still going on (it will probably disappear then reappear on Tuesday though).

We had a guy at our local council fireworks/bonfire - scary pagan Wicker Man kind of thing which turned into the devil when burned (had a tail and horns!) The whole thing was enjoyably pagan, it would have had some towns in the Bible Belt hopping mad.

I went to my friend's for bonfire / fireworks, i am part of the entertainment - i squeal and jump at all the loud bangy fireworks hahaha

My lungs complained but never mind, a few puffs of reliever sorted it. Though my lungs did continue complaining on sunday too
