I would ring your GP.you could have a chest infection.I was taken into hosp twice this year with clots on lungs. So if you dont feel like you should be please go see your GP.He will be glad to help if your not to good xxx

Hey

Firstly, what I am about to say is not intended to scare you, just advise! Chest pains, as you probably already know, especially with associated shortness of breath, CAN (not always, but in those unlucky few) indicate a heart problem, or heart attack. Please please please, if anyone experiences chest pain that is severe and persistant, then seek medical attention - I'm sure they'd rather you were over- than under-cautious!

As Glynis said, chest pains can also be a sign of having a blood clot in the lung (a pulmonary embolism). Whilst not too harmful if they stay in one place, although they are painful, if they get lodged in an artery they can have fatal consequences.

As I said before, please don't take this as having meant to scare anyone, or lecturing you or anything, I am not a medical professional (yet!), but your health is too important to take chances with. Don't let GP's fob you off if they try to and don't take you too seriously, if the pain is bad and/or you are struggling for breath, go to A&E.

chest pain

tanks a mil 4 the replies it eased off abit tried 2 get an apointment with my gp out of the question till fri so i will go to ane if it continues or wait till i see my con on wednesday . thanks amil

I have been having the same lately, though have a bit of a cough on anf off aswell. A lot of pain in at the sides of my chest wall but unfortunately I couldn't get into my usual GP last week and felt the GP I did get was not very interested in my asthma at all. My peak flow is down from 450 to about 350 (although as usual it was higher when i did it there!). The asthma nurse told me to watch out incase I am coming down with something so maybe you are starting to come down with a chest infection or something. Best to get checked out to be on the safe side

Just to remind you Asthma and Chest pain need to be checked out.Dont want to worry you but twice this year when having a asthma attack was kept in hospital.had blood tests and scans and had clots in my lungs. So please dont put your life in danger and always get chest pain checked over.Love Glynis xxx

If you get any chest pain that you can't easily explain such as a pulled inter-costal muscles (something some asthmatics are all too familier with) you must get it checked out ASAP. My Grandfather had a massive heart attack he thought was indigestion on the other hand had a mild one a few years earlier and looked and felt like he was at deaths door. Please please get chest pain checked out unless you are 100% certain you know the cause.

Bex

I agree 100%, but have mentioned stabbing chest pains before to my asthma nurse, and have always been told, if they go away, then don't worry.

chest pain

thanks so much for the replies im off to see con , today am not looking forward to it as every time i go theres an add on to my meds , and now with the way ive been feeling dont no where il end up . i mean imon 4 inhalers and phiolocontion plus nexium and calium tabs . i would feel so silly if if was indigestion but with the shortness of breath as well i dont no, not to bad now of course, does anyone else find when they have a doc appointment there peak flows are always up and you fell better then you have been all week , when you know you have been through the mill over the last weeks!!

Hudson,

I know exactly what you mean, feel really rough and struggle for a while, then go to GP, better and they make you feel like a nuisance, and they wonder why we don't like going.

Hope all goes well.

Chris

well i know why I don't like going after today.

Peakflows had been falling last two weeks, nearly all month be more accurate, wake at night chest pain, and shortness of breath, cough in the morning, with morning peakflows now at 70%, went to the Dr, who ignored the chest pain I still have, making typing very difficult, and eating as it's painfull to move my arm, and said why do I bother taking peakflows, they're a waste of time. what a F-ing useless Dr, no wonder he's a locum, he'd never keep a regular practice going. Just hope I get better on my own.

I’m working in ICU and work 12hr shifts and started having plantar fasciitis and orthofeet shoes have solved my problem. I wish they were a little more stylish, but at this point I choose style over function. I see that they have a new color and I will most definitely purchase these again when they need to be replaced.
