Fexofenadine anti-histamine alcohol

Hi

Been prescribed above, on packet says to avoid alcohol which I will but am curious as to know why. Does it stop absorption or is it to do with side effects. Anyone enlighten me?

Thanks in advance.

Found this information at netdoctor.co.uk relating to Telfast 120 mg (fexofenadine):

""Fexofenadine is called a non-sedating antihistamine as it does not enter the brain in significant amounts and is therefore unlikely to cause drowsiness. However, people react differently to medicines and extremely rarely some people may experience some drowsiness.

In the extremely unlikely event that this medicine causes drowsiness, the effect may be made worse by consuming alcohol or taking any medicines that do cause drowsiness. You should take care driving or operating machinary until you are familar with your response to this medicine.""

Hope this helps.

Thanks Rachael for taking the time to source my question - 17 mins! What a great forum this is.

Really appreciate your help. Thanks again.
