Avascular/osteonecrosis

I was diagnosed with this couple of years ago and I had surgery to relieve pressure on the top of the femur by moving the tendons so they didn't rub.

In the last 2-3 months i have been suffering increased pain in the same hip which isn't relieved with tramadol / codiene/paracetamol and the only thing that seems to reduce the pain is non weight bearing which isnt really practical(although prior to the op I was on crutches for 5 yrs.

I just wondered if anyone has any experience or knowledge about this condition that they could share with me?

I have an appt with my gp to see what we do next but im not hopeful as a hip replacement was mentioned before and obviously at 34 this isnt a real option.

Hi Hops,

I sent a text yesterday but I dint know if you got it...

Just had a thought that if you not too good and not up to the drive to west sussex on monday I am more than happy to come and pick you and Chloe up and bring you back home. It would be no problem to me cos you close to motorway anyway. Let me know if i can help in any way

OK not happy - saw GP today who has suggested going back on crutches - was hoping to avoid this after spending 5+ yrs on them already so i think they will be last resort. He is sending back to the guy who did my last surgery but was honest and reckons its not looking too hopeful.

He has also prescribed some fentanyl patches to help with the pain when its at its worst but again im leaving thats until i really cant cope.

Has anyone been in this position or similar?
