what is cushing syndrome?

I ahve been told that I may have cushing syndrome...anyone any idea what it is?

Have googled it but not sure I really understand.

Cushing syndrome is when the body is exposed to too much corticosteroid. In you case I am guessing that it is probably all the oral/IV steroids you've needed for you asthma?

What did the doctor say exactly? Did they say you look 'Cushingoid'- as in a moon face and characteristic fat deposits? Or was it some particular thing they were worried about. They could simply mean you have the side effects of long term oral steroid use.

As it is can be caused by steroids the Asthma Nurses on the Asthma UK adviceline might be more help- definitely worth a try.

cushingoid was mentioned...yes I do think I look like a big cushion too! Actually took me ages to work out what they had written as the doctor had missed out letetrs and written cusingoid and I couldn't find reference to that anywhere...lol doctors eh? I have got more advice today and it is to do with the steroids...but have no choice but to take them at the moment.
