Does anyone else take amitriptyline and Symbicort together?

Sorry if this is an inappropriate question.... I am probably being really paranoid but on the information leaflet, for Symbicort, it says to use with caution if you take amitriptyline. I have been using a 10mg dose to help me sleep for a while and am also on Symbicort recently changed from Seretide. I asked a pharmacist and he said not to worry. I don't want to bug my GP but I'm taking pred as well at the moment and can't possibly believe than none of them interact. Just looking for perhaps a bit of reassurance!?

I am on Symbicort 400/12 - 6 puffs a day, pred 5mg and amitriptyline 10-20mg. They are all on my repeat. I have been on the Symbicort and amitriptyline for several years, (amitriptyline for another health issue initially and now for low level anxiety, I think caused by meds). Pharmacists, GP and consultant have never said I shouldn't be on them at the same time.

Hi I had Cronic Asthma for 4 years i was taking Symbicort morning and night ventilian about 5 times a day..I was also taking Amitriptyline (Endep10 mlg) I read on the nett not to take Endep 10 with asthma as it stops the asthma treatment from working..So i asked my doctor he said oh its ok to take it..One day my chemist who was filling my scripts said this is unusual for these 2 prescriptions Symbicort and endep 10, she said as long as you realise emdep 10 can stop your Asthma treatment from working...I deceided to ignore what she says cause everybody trust their doctor who said it was fine to take it. Just by Chance another doctor took me off endep 10 for other reasons..Now 2 weeks later my Asthma is 90 percent better..Thanks for the misery to the doctor who told me Endep 10 is ok to take with Asthma.. My Advice Ask your chemist they know more about drugs than Doctors.

Heya I take both and have never had any issues and gp has never mentioned it with the mix of symbicort and amitrip & pred. Hope that reassures you a bit!!! Zippi x

Thanks both of you, that is reassuring because even tho I am only on 20mg pred it is affecting my sleep and I've not been taking the amitriptyline so I'm exhausted! Maybe it's the higher doses that cause possible probs. I'll ring my GP and double check on Monday but as the pharmacist said it was ok and you guys are doing it I feel better. Thanks! Sleep well

Just to update, I did mention this to my GP and he says the potential interaction is basically an arrhythmia but that this is very rare, is more likely on very high doses of symbicort and amytriptyline and basically is more theoretical than likely to occur. He was very chilled about it so put my mind at rest.
