It's fine, I went to Australia on long-term Pred last year. Just remember that if you are still taking them, pack all meds in your hand luggage in original packaging and make sure you have a letter from your doctor explaining that you need them.

If you've finished them, it might be a good idea to take a course with you anyway in case your asthma flares up - discuss it with your doc.

I agree with Ratty that it might be worth taking some with you just in case you run into problems while you're away.

I have travelled a fair amount while on long-term pred, and would advise taking more than you need (actually this applies to all medications). I always allow a few days extra of everything in case flights are cancelled, etc. That would be stressful enough without also having to find a doctor and get extra supplies of medications. For pred I take enough to last me the whole trip at maximum dose plus a few days (also at maximum dose), regardless of the dose I'm taking when I'm due to travel.

It might also be worth discussing with your GP whether you should take a supply of antibiotics with you as well, in case your recent infection decides that it wants a repeat visit.

Do you have good, comprehensive travel insurance that will cover you for any problems with your asthma while you're away?

Hi wishes

I have travel insurance with elephant that covers any medical expenses and will be going to the doctor on friday, so will ask about taking extra pred and antibitics aswell, just hoping this infection clears before my wedding!

Check the wording of your policy carefully re ""any medical expenses"". Usually this applies to things that happen when on holiday, not to pre-existing conditions you are already being treated for. You may require specialist insurance rather than general insurance.

Thanks for your reply ratty, i did ask them if my asthma would be covered and they said it would but will check again!
