Im just fed up, ive been having severe stomach pains in the lower left region for over a year now, had the usual tests, ultrasound, blood, urine, mri,ct etc and all inconclusive and my gp refered me to a general surgeon who agreed that there was obvious dicsomfort when he examined me and said that a laparotomy was the next step.... until he read my notes further and realised that I had a bad reaction to GA on my last op with my asthma and now is very reluctant to do it, I dont know what to do, the pains are getting worse and he agrees that something is wrong but does not want to risk the surgery cause of my asthma!
Guess im just fed up with it all, sorry for dumping this here..
sorry to hear you are in pain. just wondering if you have spoken to an aneasthestist about having a lap? they could go over different options with you and review what happened when you last had an op to see if anything can be done differently to enable you to have the lap done.
if you are experiencing a lot of pain which not prescribed pk's aren't helping then go see your gp about getting something that does help whilst the next step is decided.
hope things get sorted for you soon

Hi
Sorry to hear about your problem. I agree ask to speak to the anaethatist. I have surgery (hysterectomy) with a spinal anaesthetic as my anaethatist didn't want to give me a GA due to the severity of my asthma.
Good luck in sorting this out quickly as there is nothing worse than being in pain
Truly x
thanks for the replies, I have just heard from my GP to say that the cons has arranged for me to meet with an anethetist to discuss options before he deffo says no, so fingers crossed!
I am already taking Tramadol which just about seems to knock me out so most of the time I just try to live with it.

I know exactly what you are going through, i have a mass the size of a tennis ball beneath my appendix scar which causes me alot of pain and the surgeon at my local wont operate because of my asthma and i have had blood clots in my lungs so deems me too risky. I went back to my GP and he suggested a referral to a different bigger hospital which is more used to complicated cases , i am seeing the surgeon on Mon so will let you know how i get on. Would going elsewhere be an option for u?
I am also on tramadol (max dose) but it doesnt really help alot.
