Hi

I was wondering if it was just me! I had a cold a couple of weeks ago (which has now passed but left a poor peak flow/cough)

But....I am still sneezing! Wondered if the pollen count was on the up!

Yup!

Tis the tree pollen season!!!

Look at all those lovely Catkins!

I have been suffering for a few weeks now.

It seems to get earlier each year especially in the SE of England.

Tree pollens are one of my main triggers in spring.... hence two hosp admissions in 3-4 weeks.

Yup. There was me thinking that perhaps I had a cold or something, but it seems to be an even earlier than normal beginning to the hayfever season :(

It possibly also explains the recent drop in my peak flow so need to keep an eye on that.

As well as pollen, air pollution has increased. I've just had my first air pollution warning text of the year. For anyone living in London, this is an excellent service - it's totally free to sign up to, and they send you a warning text if air pollution goes over a certain level. Sign up at:

airtext.info/

yes its hit me too.

got to college yesterday morning and one of my new friends (didnt no her last year) thought i had been crying and had itchy eyes all through my driving lesson on monday - that was no fun =(

i have had a few sneezes but nothing else as yet. fingercrossed. I normally get it big style with trees but they arent budding yet here or not the ones on my street any ways.

You can have the big tree right outside my window Plumie!!! It's covered in pink blossom and looks lovely, but *atchoo*!!!!

I've been suffering too for the last couple of weeks. Particularly bad this week because I am on annual leave and taking advantage of the wonderful sunshine and tidying the garden - fool to myself really but I do like a tidy garden. Daily antihistamines is the answer - will have to get some.

I've been taking anti-histamines and a nasal spray every day throughout the year. This is the first year I've been advised to take them outside of the hayfever season and it has helped with my other allergies, but does anyone know what happens when the hayfever season really gets going properly? I normally struggle even with anti-histamines, nasal spray, eye drops during the hayfever season - will they be less effective as I've been taking them continuously? Is there anything else I can take for my hayfever as it always makes me so miserable and as my asthma got much worse only in August last year, I'm worried about what effect the hayfever is going to have this year.

Hey ratty, i also have probelms stopping my hayfever i am almost aphaltic to some plants but you cannot really avoid them. I am on telfast 180mg all the time and it kind of stops most of the reaction, not that most ppl would notice as i still look like i am crying and cannot stop sneezing and i sound wheezy but that is the reaction dulled down. I have often wondered if there was any thing stronger but i dont know sorry. It is odd you have blossom we dont even have any leaves yet?!

Me and at least three other people (non-asthmatics) in my year at school have started suffering with hayfever....at first I didn't believe it. Hayfever in March for heaven's sake!

Went to the GP and got Avamys (???) which seems to be helping, plus had a bad cough so was whacked on pred - seems to be calming it all down a bit!

Ooh. Hayfever hit me this morning. Itchy ears, throat and sneezing.

Going out for teaching lesson later today.

Whats the bets the instructor acts 'learner from hell' and speeds off at junctions when I have a sneezing fit and haven't the voice to say Stop!!

Good luck with the training! hope it goes well!

just got a vics nasal spray to add to my hayfever collection of potions, pills and lotions! ;0)

too early in the season for me, but I hope it's a wet summer (not really), but hoping that the sinus rinse will help. Salt pipes are supposed to work, anyone have success with them?

Thanks Kelwoo. I had a good lesson.

In addition to the excellent London air pollution web site and service already highlighted by Ratty, the following site may also be extremely useful, with pollen calendar for the UK and links to a number of other significant sites:-

pollenuk.co.uk/

This is the National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit. The NPARU is based at the University of Worcester and is the main provider of pollen forecasts, fungal spore forecasts and pollen data for the whole of the UK and all of Ireland.
